The discovery of a sovereign material: stainless steel 316L
316L stainless steel is the material of choice for ZAG jewelry. In addition to the fact that it is completely hypoallergenic due to the absence of nickel, its stainless steel properties make it a remarkable material. The robust and durable quality of this alloy is attributed to its composition incorporating more than 10.5% chromium, a metal with high resistance to oxidation and rust. Forget all your worries related to the sensitivity of your skin, or wearing our jewelry while swimming in the sea or in the shower. ZAG jewelry is worn over time and adapted to the effervescent daily life of the modern woman!
Plating with gold by ionization
Ionization gold plating is a technique that consists of fixing the precious metal by spraying it on a jewel placed under vacuum. This technique makes it possible to obtain a gilding of irreproachable quality, and guarantees a great resistance and superb brightness.
Laser cutting and metal engraving
The 316L steel is cut and engraved with a laser. This process allows us to make all types of shapes and engravings on our rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings, and to bring a level of detail that we would not reach without these new technologies.
Fashioning the stones
Stones occupy a very special place in our creations. We love them madly. In order to set them on the metal according our designer’s drawings, they are cut by the expert hands of craftsmen in our workshops. We always choose the most beautiful part of rough stones to give life to shaped pendants, cabochons or other pieces that sublimate our lovely jewelry.
When stones are cut and calibrated, we hand thread them onto cords or metal wire to create necklaces and bracelets that will add a rainbow of colors to your look!
Setting and welding
The setting is the act of fixing the stones to the structure of a piece. This stage of the process requires immense dexterity. It is meticulous work that is carried out by hand. The craftsman is helped by a magnifying glass to place and fix the stone onto the frame.
Welding one piece of metal to another also requires similar precision. Our jewelry, often very fine, is rarely cast but fashioned with the help of welding to fix different and decorative elements onto the piece, or simply to make the clasps of our chains.
What we call shaping mainly concerns rings, rush bracelets or hoop earrings. In order to achieve the curves of these pieces, the steel, previously cut into long strips, is placed by hand under a press allowing us to curve it.
The creation of our jewelry is an almost instantaneous and bursting process. Michelle chooses a metal base, a shape, an idea for a motif that she will discover on a walk or a trip. The creative universe of ZAG Bijoux is built on the desire of the season and the inspiration of the day. This way of creating, fresh and unconstrained, is reinvented over time. For Michelle, inspiration is like the air she breathes, it flows and feeds her constantly, which is why the ZAG Bijoux collections are so vast and diverse.
